HEAR THE DIFFERENCE
Do you suffer from a hearing impairment? We can assist!
Hearing loss and difficulty hearing is very common. It can be a distressing experience to any individual, especially if it deteriorates over time and affects both ears. Losing the ability to hear is natural as one gets older, but there are numerous types of hearing problems that are not related to age. Having a hearing impairment makes it difficult to follow conversations or function normally, which often leads to a patient feeling isolated and depressed. To help patients struggling with any type of hearing impairment, audiologists can conduct a series of tests in order to establish the cause of the problem.
A hearing impairment is usually the result of inner ear or nerve damage which can be the caused by a hereditary defect, an injury, a disease, a reaction to certain medications, old-age, or excessive exposure to loud noises.
At Dr Tanja Beeton Audiologist, we specialise in providing clients with a diagnosis and a suitable solution to either treat their hearing problems, or to live a normal life despite a hearing disorder.
Some typical hearing impairments include:
- Presbiacusis
- Tinnitus
- Sudden hearing loss (that can be the cause of several reasons)
- Auditory processing disorders
- Congenital deafness
- Otosclerosis
- Ototoxicity from eardrops (or damage caused by the intake of other medications)
