Dr Beeton started off her studies by obtaining a degree in B. Communication Pathology (with specialisation in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology) from the University of Pretoria. After obtaining her first degree, she spent a year in community service at George Stegman Hospital as an audiologist and speech language pathologist. Dr Beeton spent yet another year in government service after completing her community service, working at Rustenburg Provincial Hospital, where she acted as chief audiologist and speech language pathologist.

Once she had gained these two years of experience in government service, she went to the United Kingdom where she worked for the National Health Service (NHS) for four years, taking on responsibilities in various departments, including adult audiology, adult balance assessments and paediatric audiology, including electrophysiological tests and paediatric team management. During this time she also had the opportunity to complete her Masters’ degree in healthcare science (MHSc) at Nova Southeastern University (Fort Lauderdale), as well as completing her Doctoral degree in Audiology (Au.D), with honours.

Once she completed her studies, she moved back to South Africa to the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, where she first worked for an audiologist in private practice, and was then employed for five years at a hearing aid manufacturing company that also supports and trains audiologists in South Africa.

Dr Tanja Beeton now has her own private practice, where she helps patients to regain access to sound through effective diagnosis and treatment. She also supplies and fits hearing aids in Durbanville. It is safe to say that her dedication to her studies, as well as her dedication towards helping her patients is a true testament of her excellent work ethic and caring nature. She is eager to expand her knowledge of audiology and enjoys learning new techniques that will enable her to provide her patients with the best possible care and in so doing improving their quality of life.
