Dr Tanja Beeton can provide you with
a diagnosis and a solution
Whereas a person who is deaf has absolutely no hearing abilities, a person suffering from hearing loss or a hearing impairment is slowly losing their ability to hear. If you or someone you know is having trouble to differentiate between sounds, or you find yourself asking people to repeat their sentences multiple times, it might be time to consult a hearing professional such as Dr Beeton.

HEAR THE DIFFERENCE
Our aim at Dr Tanja Beeton Audiologist is to assist patients that have hearing loss to find a suitable treatment that will help them lead an almost normal life. Hearing loss is treated with hearing aids, which we supply, fit, and repair at our practice.
Types of hearing loss
- Conductive Hearing Loss
Conductive hearing loss is referred to when the loss of hearing is the result of problems in the ear canal, eardrum, outer ear, in the middle ear, or in the bone formation. Therefore, the ear has lost its ability to conduct sound from the outer ear, through the middle ear and into the inner ear.
- Sensorineural Hearing Loss
When a hearing problem occurs in the inner ear, it is known as sensorineural hearing loss. It is also known as nerve-related hearing loss as the reason for the loss is damage to the hair cells or nerves in your ears, which are usually responsible for sensing sound waves.
- Mixed Hearing Loss
When hearing loss is both conductive and sensorineural, it is referred to as mixed hearing loss. In this case, it is both the outer (or middle)- and inner ear that have been damaged.
At our audiology practice, we conduct a range of tests to diagnose our patients with a specific type of hearing loss. Once diagnosed, we are able to discuss a range of treatment options that may allow a patient to hear again to a certain extent.
In some cases where a conductive hearing disorder occurs, surgery may be an efficient option, whereas hearing aids or implants are usually the only option when it comes to sensorineural hearing impairment. We can recommend the perfect hearing aids to suit your condition and lifestyle.
